While I was being industrious

Well, today I was feeling very domestic so I worked away cleaning things while the kids happily played, (which is unusual while I'm busy!) Suddenly Meadow came running to me shouting "I did it!" So I asked her what she did, and she replied very proudly, "I colored mommy's door!" When I went to look there indeed was a lovely purple mural all over the bathroom and bedroom doors! It doesn't show up very well in the picture. She was so pleased with herself, all I could do was laugh, then tell her that was a no-no! Fortunately the washable crayon washed off very easily. Meadow even helped! Oh yeah, she was also wearing purple "lipstick"!

It's Spring EVERYWHERE ELSE!

Here's a picture from today of our porch and a flower pot desperately awaiting flowers.
Here's what we saw in Seattle last week: beautiful blossoming trees, flowers, grass, and the SUN! It was actually warm enough not to wear a coat! The air smelled like fragrant blossoms and leaves! It was so nice! Not a flake of snow. Then we came home to a snowy windstorm. Oh well. I bet people in the rest of the world don't appreciate the warm sun as much as Ketchikanians!

Non-Alien

Here's another picture of Spud that proves he/she is NOT an alien! This pic is better than the other one I think. That thing just above Spud's body is a hand waving!

Here's Spud!

I had my first ultrasound today! Spud was kicking and turning and wiggling all over! I'm actually a little farther along than we thought- 13 1/2 weeks, making my new due date Sept. 22! (Is that the same as Kristi's?) Spud weighs 3 oz. and is about 7 centimeters long-just the body not including legs. The bottom pic shows Spud's feet hanging down, and part of the umbilical cord. The other pic is pretty obvious- but it looks like Spud has an alien eye! I'm not sure what that is, but it's probably showing part of the inside of the head. The heart rate was 163, making me think it's a girl, but Matthew thinks he saw otherwise! We're not going to find out- we like guessing!

Just ONE Spud!

I had my first prenatal check up today, unfortunately I won't get an ultrasound till next week! We did get to hear the heartbeat though! And yes, for all you twin sayers, there was only one! My due date for now is October 5th. This will be updated once I have the ultrasound, but I think it's pretty close. I'm over the shock now, and very excited to be starting the pregnant process again!

Want to see Barrow?

Barrow, Alaska is a place I've wanted to visit for a long time. I'm hoping to go there this year, and hopefully take a very short swim in the Arctic Ocean if it is thawed! This picture is a view of Barrow from the frozen ocean. I have included a link to a web cam I found that shows the current weather conditions in Barrow, and the ice covering the ocean. I will keep checking it to see when the ice moves away from shore, then plan a trip to take a dip! (Like my poem?) It's also interesting to note the day light, or darkness. Something new I learned is that even on the longest day of winter, it still gets light there for a couple of hours. I always thought they were in total darkness all winter, but even though the sun doesn't rise above the horizon, the rays still create some light. I saw this on the web cam picture. I find the Arctic fascinating! Here's the link: http://www.gi.alaska.edu/snowice/sea-lake-ice/barrow_webcam.html

Little Boy Blue

I didn't think he could get the lid off the marker he was playing with...but he's a boy, so I should have known better!
